Power To Be's Quarterly Impact Report - Q1 2026
Hi there!
I’m Jen, Power To Be’s Head of Programs in Vancouver. We’ve had a wonderful, albeit warm, winter and early start to spring this year in Victoria and Vancouver and I’d like to celebrate our participants and team for their adaptability and strength in some ever-changing conditions - and for finding joy and fun in nature even when things don’t go as planned!
This quarter, we ran 93 programs, and had 715 participant visits. We enjoyed all kinds of weather: TrailRider hikes to the frozen Spectacle Lake, atmospheric rivers during Wilderness School Spring Break, slushy snowshoeing at Mount Washington, snowy/rainy sit skiing at Sea to Sky Gondola, and warm, sunny trail hikes with our Ferns and Salal cohorts. All of our program streams have been off to an incredible start: our Landscaping participants have been weeding, removing invasive species, installing irrigation systems, and planning the greenhouse. We’ve been meeting new families for the next Family Roots cohort, and community group programs like the Tsartlip First Nation joined us on site for their Spring Break, enjoying canoeing, hiking, and forest play time.
This February I celebrated my 8th year at Power To Be, and every year I’m even more inspired by the partners, volunteers, and participants in our community that we get to work with every day. I am endlessly proud of the work we do together on both the island and the mainland, and am excited for all the adventures we have planned for 2026. Thank you for supporting us and believing in the power of nature.
