What is the Need, Fit, Desire criteria?
When making selections for Summer Camps, we will be assessing applicant's Need, Fit and Desire criteria as explained below. Our goal is to create a group of youth who will work well together and have success creating a positive social community.
NEED: the participants self-identifies a need for skills building, deeper social connections and/or a lack of consistent programming outside Power To Be.
FIT: Participant has a positive attitude toward Power To Be's concepts of ACER (Accepting all abilities, willingness to Challenge oneself, Encourage others and Respecting oneself, others and the other than human world). To attend the program participants must be able to follow instructions and make sound risk management decisions. Power To Be does not have the capacity to support participants who engage in dysregulation that involves physical harm to one's self or others. Participants attending independently have low to moderate support needs and can follow instructions independently. Participants with moderate to high support needs will come with a 1:1 support. Participants in Summer Camps are interested in being physically active and participating in outdoor activities.
DESIRE: The participant has a demonstrated desire to build skills, connect socially with peers and engage with activities.
