Leslie Liggett (She/Her)

Board Director

VICTORIA

Leslie began life in Winnipeg, MB, spent much of her childhood in Oakville, ON, and then as a teenager, landed happily in the greater Vancouver area in BC. This is where her love of the outdoors took root – enjoying the North Shore mountains in summer and winter (hiking, skiing, and snowshoeing), hiking the Sea to Sky corridor, and boating and swimming in Howe Sound and the Gulf Islands. Her passion for being in nature has now expanded to include accessing the back country, kayaking, and foraging for wild foods.

Leslie’s early career was spent working with adults with developmental disabilities, removing barriers to their full participation in community and work. Overseeing accessible and inclusive housing programs as well, Leslie found joy in watching people grow in confidence and participation. Most of all, Leslie loves making a positive difference in people’s lives. This theme continued throughout her career leading co-operative education and career services at University of Victoria, and then, for the last 11 years, as an HR consultant to dozens of clients all across Canada.

Leslie holds a Bachelor and Master of Arts, the CHPR designation, and certificates in non-profit sector management and conflict coaching. Previously, she served as vice-president of the Hong Kong–Canada Business Association, and as director on the board of Volunteer Victoria.

When she’s not working, she loves being outdoors, hiking with her dog and friends, foraging for mushrooms, cooking with fresh local foods, and spending as much time as she can with her grandchildren.

Volunteering with Power To Be aligns perfectly with Leslie’s belief that nature has healing properties, and allows her to share her passion and joy.
