Robin McGeough (He/Him)
Head Of Programs Victoria
VICTORIA
Robin grew up with one foot in the Rockies and another in the Pacific Ocean. Whether it was snorkelling, camping or going for a stroll, nature became a place to foster connection and community with himself and others. With an obsessive passion for whales, dolphins and porpoises, he dreamed of becoming the world’s best Marine Biologist.
While still passionate about cetaceans, Robin pivoted after discovering a love for working with people and advocating for human rights and equity. After studying International Development at Queen’s University and later to a Masters in Curriculum, Teaching and Learning at the University of Toronto, Robin embarked on an exciting career working in Rwanda, Ghana, and Japan, where he developed projects supporting education and human rights. Working with diverse communities offered an opportunity for him to understand the value of different perspectives and the dangers of a single story.
As an adult, Robin reconnected with the outdoors and found a new passion for helping diverse groups get outside and make their own connections. He spent many good years developing outdoor recreation programs for newcomers to Canada, as well as 2SLGBTQ+ folks. Learning from these communities, Robin became passionate about advocating for diversity, equity and inclusion in outdoor spaces. He feels that representation matters greatly in helping people see themselves outside, and the importance of lowering barriers and lifting up diverse voices.
When he isn’t managing projects to help get people outside, he enjoys a nice trail run through Goldstream Park, curling up with his cat and a nice vinyl record, or making a mess in the kitchen cooking ghorma sabzi or khichidi.
