Shawn Golinowski

Shawn was raised on Vancouver Island, graduated from UVic and subsequently spent 7 years working around Southeast Asia. His early professional years were spent teaching English in South Korea and Indonesia and later trying to alleviate poverty in the Philippines. Upon returning to Canada, Shawn did stints at UBC’s Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering and Royal Roads University before making the decision to leave office work to pursue what would become a passion for surfing and a desire to do active work that keeps him on his feet. Though he completed a B.A. in Pacific & Asian Studies and an M.Ed. in Distance Education & Training, he transitioned into building services work and feels fortunate to support programs at Power To Be by maintaining the beautiful buildings and grounds.
