Welcoming New Volunteers

To get started, we ask that you review our available roles and attend an info session. Learn more here.
-
All new volunteers join us for a volunteer info session and complete an application that includes a criminal record check. Once these steps are completed, we will complete reference checks, and have you join us for a day of training, before you begin volunteering in your role(s).
-
At our volunteer info sessions, you will learn how you can contribute to Power To Be and how our volunteer program operates. It includes an immersive tour of our site at Prospect Lake and engaging conversations with members of our community.
You can view our upcoming volunteer info sessions through our Volunteer page here.
Volunteer Engagement and Support
-
One of the strengths of our volunteer program is the flexibility we offer to our volunteers. Using our online platform, Better Impact, you can register for a variety of volunteer activities that align with your interests, qualifications and availability.
-
Throughout the year, volunteers receive invitations to participate in learning and training activities as they become available. This may include relational skills, first aid, large mammal training, outdoor leadership, and technical skills related to our various outdoor activities. Please note that some training will be restricted to specific volunteer roles.
-
Beyond invitations to attend learning activities, we recognize and appreciate volunteer contributions in a variety of other ways. This includes everything from informal words of thanks on a regular basis to meaningful appreciation events throughout the year.
We also provide gifts to volunteers at specific milestones throughout their involvement with the organization as a special thank you for their contributions. All volunteers receive a Power To Be t-shirt, and volunteers who complete 100 hours of service receive a Power To Be hoodie.
-
You can be a meaningful part of the impact at Power To Be, by volunteering in a range of roles, from program delivery and event support, to community engagement, operations, land stewardship, and more.
Whether you’re helping with gardening or land restoration, research and data entry, washing lifejackets, organizing our gear hub, or supporting participants during a program, there are endless ways to give back and lend your support.
