Volunteer Spotlight: Simon Bruce-Lockhart
Simon brings a family tradition and lifelong dedication to education into his role as Vice-Chair of the Board and Chair of the Governance Committee at Power To Be. Over the past two years, Simon has spent many hours on multiple projects including overseeing the massive job of updating our governance structure and policies but knows that at the heart of Power To Be is its programs and participants.
Volunteer Spotlight: Daniella
Since volunteering with adaptive recreation programming in Vancouver, Daniella has provided support for a diversity of participants. With her charismatic and personable approach, she consistently helps create a safe and social space on programs.
Volunteer Spotlight: D'Arcy
D’Arcy has been a volunteer superstar from the very first day she joined us in November 2018. Always going above and beyond to ensure that a task is completed with diligence, care, and creativity, D’Arcy consistently brought fresh ideas and stepped up to tackle new projects within the Marketing and Communications department.

Jackie approached us 5 years ago to get involved as a volunteer with Power To Be and since then has naturally played many integral roles, not only as a volunteer but as an ambassador for the organization.
Strathcona Park July 2019 TRON Expedition – A Power To Be volunteer story
This past summer, Power To Be history was made when, for the first time, a dedicated team brought two TrailRiders on an overnight expedition. The weekend spent in Strathcona Provincial Park was full of games, stories, and laughs as the team bonded over the amazing experience. Coast Capital Savings empowers its employees to become actively engaged in volunteering in their communities. As part of Coast Capital’s Help Heroes employee volunteer program, a group of enthusiastic team members recently participated in a volunteer day at Power to Be’s Prospect Lake site.

Power To Be’s Board of Directors is pleased to announce the recent election of Brad Williams as their new Chair. Taking over from Mike Shannon at the end of his term, Brad is not new to the organization having served as Treasurer for many years.

Em grew up exploring the outdoors and through finding motivation and peace in the wilderness she quickly discovered the value of her experiences in nature. Em first heard of Power To Be through her work’s involvement with Power To Play over 3 years ago, and quickly jumped in with both feet!
