Over the years, many people in our communities have had the chance to visit Have A Go Days – a free, open-invite, no-registration, drop-in opportunity to visit us, try out Power To Be’s programs, and meet our community partners. As we reflect on our past 25 years, now is a great time to share the story of Have A Go Days in both Victoria and Vancouver: where we’ve been, where we’re at, and where we’d like to go.

Power To Summit 2023 Recap!
On the weekend of May 26-28, 2023, Power To Be held our 6th Power To Summit virtual fundraising event, which saw 80 teams of four racers work together to climb, fundraise, and spend time together in support of Power To Be.
Payback with a Purpose: Train the Trainer at Innovative Fitness
Have you ever wanted to get back at your trainer for all those sit-ups, push-ups, or burpees they had you do? Innovative Fitness’s Train the Trainer event is the ultimate opportunity to get back at your trainer while making a difference in your community. This year, over $120,000 was raised in total for all of the Innovative Fitness locations, with the Victoria location reeling in $13,000 in support of Power To Be!
Holiday Have A Go Day
2019 has seen lots of fun-filled, outdoor adventures at our Have A Go Day events. To wrap up the year, we invite you to join us for a Holiday Have A Go, where we will be getting festive and enjoying activities such as hiking, stories, a campfire, and a chance to explore the forest of our Prospect Lake site.
Ride For The Future: A 500km journey that gives back
Ride for the Future is a 500km bicycle ride from the top of Vancouver Island to the bottom, that spans over 24 and 36 hours and that raises over $50,000 in support of our programs. This year, the ride was completed by four riders, with two of them riding over two days (sub 36 hours) and two of them riding straight through the night and completing in under 24 hours.
Collaborative Community: The First Outdoor Play Day
The echo of laughter filled Westwood Lake Park during an action-packed day of kayaking, trail riding, and paddleboarding. Power To Be and SUP4ALL teamed up with the Nanaimo Child Development Centre to deliver their very first day of outdoor play.

Accessibility is better shared: TrailRider workshop with BC Parks
Power To Be recently teamed up with BC Parks to deliver a TrailRider workshop which allowed their staff the opportunity to learn more about accessibility and inclusion in the outdoors.
The Power of Support: Power To Be’s First Nature Gala
On Friday, July 12th, Power To Be hosted our very first Nature Gala, an annual fundraising event to help support Power To Be’s inclusive adventure programming. Formally known as Power To Golf, this year’s event featured fine dining, a silent auction, and a musical performance from award-winning singer Sarah McLachlan, and was truly a milestone in Power To Be’s fundraising efforts.
Giving Across Generations: Robinson’s 90th Anniversary
Last week, Robinson’s Outdoor Store celebrated its 90th anniversary; an exciting moment for the family-run business that has been providing outdoor enthusiasts across Vancouver Island with a variety of specialized gear since 1929. The store is iconic in the Victoria area and holds a special place in the hearts of everyone involved in Power To Be.

Chilcotin Magic greets Power To Be supporters
Power To Ride, a four-day and three-night mountain bike journey deep into the South Chilcotin Mountains brought supporters together to raise money for Power To Be, forge connections and challenge themselves in nature.

Our participants show us what is truly possible every time they overcome adversity and challenge themselves through Power To Be’s programs. They are able to do so with the generosity of donors and volunteers who ensure adventures in nature are an option for individuals and families in need of support in our community.
Power To Play Vancouver raises $240,000
The rain didn’t slow the momentum for teams racing in Power To Play Vancouver 2015. More than 30 teams representing Vancouver businesses raced through Stanley Park Sept. 24 after raising $240,000 in support of Power To Be.
Wilderness School youth celebrate their journey
Surrounded by family, friends and the Power To Be community, Wilderness School youth celebrated all they have accomplished in the program over the past year. From surf trips to Tofino, summiting some of Vancouver Island’s highest peaks and kayaking the Gulf Islands, the youth were recognized for their dedication to leadership, positive social development and life skills fostered through outdoor adventure and education.
Community tees off in support of Power To Be
A perfect day on the links was a record-breaking success for Power To Golf, in support of Power To Be. The ninth annual tournament brought out notable leaders from Victoria and Vancouver’s business and sports communities. Together they raised $261,000 for Power To Be’s accessible outdoor recreation programs.
